Happy New Year!! Wow, I can't believe it's the start of another new year and I can't believe that I haven't written in so long……… The last 3 months have been pretty exciting for me……… and a brown-eyed HANDSOME man has been at the root of it all. His name is Jeff….. and Jeff is an amazing man that I've grown to like…..a lot…….however……..I'm also being very real about this whole relationship idea and so is he. We have both decided to take it slow and easy and just have some FUN getting to know each other better. We've both been through some not so wonderful marriages and some relationships that have gone awry….. so at this point in our lives we are both perfectly content being and living on our own, although with that said, we also both share the thought that there just might be a future possibility for a relationship some day whether it be with each other or someone else. In other words, we aren't so set in our ways that we haven't totally ruled out finding that perfect someone to spend our golden years with…… Will that happen? Only the good Lord knows that for sure and until that is revealed then I just plan to enjoy each and every moment of this precious life that I'm still living. Besides all of that, he's in Texas and I'm in Georgia and the most we can hope for at this point is to see each other every once in a while…..to share some time together…..and to share a few laughs…..okay……maybe a whole lot of laughs…. Yep, we had a great time together last month when I went down to Texas to meet him and I'm sure we will again when he comes up to Georgia at the end of this month to attend Christina & Matt's wedding with me. We plan on doing the tourist thing in Savannah too. It even appears we like to do the same sort of things so me thinks we are off to a great start in building on this wonderful friendship that has come our way. Yes, it was very unexpected and totally unimaginable on how this all started, but who am I to question this particular road I'm traveling on now……..Someone more powerful than me has His hands in this…. And who knows……this all could be about something that hasn't even been brought to light yet………
Soooooooooo on this New Year's Day of 2003, I'm filled with contentment and feelings of hope for an exciting new year. Yeah……I'm feeling real blessed today…….blessed with good health and a strong family commitment to my parents, my siblings, and especially to my children. Here's to a new year………a fresh start……… and to a new chapter in my life that's just waiting to be written.

Just checking in to say that I had a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY last Sunday and at exactly 2:47 PM (California time) I smoked my last cigarette…..hopefully for good this time. So far so good.

Other happenings....
Last weekend I met Dad down in Carrabelle FL for a weekend in Mirada……. I left my place about 6 in the morning and arrived at the Ho-Hum RV Park at 8:30. Nice quiet drive…..and I enjoyed the stretch that brought me close to the water's edge……simply beautiful drive along the coastline. And even though it was cold when I arrived, Dad and I hopped into my car and drove the short distance to town center where we enjoyed a brisk walk along the main street followed by a quick view of the historic lighthouse, and a tour of the neighborhoods that bordered the river. Even found the perfect little house for sale with its own dock. Yeah, we had a great time, but then we usually do. The rest of the day was spent reading and relaxing. Sunday I suggested we drive down to Appalachicola and see what that area had to offer and to my delight Dad agreed. We explored St George's Island, the historic downtown area of Appalaachicola, a couple of marinas, and even found a nature trail to hike. After lunch, which we ate back in Mirada, we took a walk along the beach and then spent the rest of the day reading books and relaxing. All in all a very very nice retreat.
The RV life is all about .... freedom ... independence ... adventure ... and even a little fear of the unknown...
Remember the old Chinese proverb ... "A trip of a thousand miles starts with a single step "
