Still not smoking!!!!!!!!!! WoooHooooo!!!!! As of today it has been 5, yes, that's FIVE months without a cigarette.... yes, I'm VERY proud of myself :-)
8 JUNE 2003
This is "the" email to my father written on 3 June that has changed my life:
"I was wondering what plans you have for Mirada in the next year? I've been thinking seriously about moving out of this house and into an RV out at the Grassy Pond Military Recreational Park. I called and found out that I can stay up to 6 months without moving the RV, but at the end of 6 months, I'd have to leave for one night. It is $275 a month for full hookups to include satalite TV on some lots. I could save nearly $1000 a month by living in Mirada, however, if you have other plans for her, then I have been thinking of buying a travel trailer and living in that until I leave here. Of course, I'd rather live in Mirada so what do you think? We can talk about it when I come to visit next week :-)
Love from your dreamin daughter :-)"
My dream is becoming reality! This is what my father wrote to me in response to my email and get this, he responded within 24 hours...a little over 12 hours to be exact:
"It's all yours. Start making any plans for switching from the house to the motor home. No furniture needed. Love...dad"
YIPPEE YAHOO!!!!! I'm gonna start my retirement living early :-) Yeah, I still have to work, but then so do other RV full-timers... dreaming of tomorrow definitely keeps me focused on today!! Life is good............ THANK YOU DADDY!!! I haven't decided on the date yet, but I'll let you know when I do... I'm thinking it will be a few months down the road so that I can finish downsizing, find a home for my cat, etc. Plus I'm thinking it might be a good idea to wait until after the heat of the summer so maybe right before or right after Labor Day weekend. I have 4 days off for Labor Day so thought that if I got to the lake before the weekend started that I could get a half decent spot. Just thoughts right now because the first part of August sounds good too. When are you expected in New York? Maybe you could bring Mirada over and then fly out of Jacksonville or Atlanta? We can discuss further when I arrive next week. Hey, maybe we can take her out to the parking lot so that I can practice driving her/parking her? For some reason that scares me and I know I need to get over that especially if I have to leave the RV park for 1 night 6 months down the road... unless of course you'll come over and we could make a trip out of it :-) Yep, I'm always thinking...just like my father :-)
Found a better place than Grassy Pond... a little more $$ a month but won't have to worry about leaving for a night at the end of 90 days. Yep, I found out that it was 90 days and then if someone was waiting then I'd have to leave for at least one night. If no one was waiting at the end of 90 days then I could renew for another 30 days. I could do that up to 6 months and then I'd HAVE to leave for one night. This other place, called Suncoast RV Campground, is about $50 more but could stay a whole year without playing that game of leaving for a night. It also includes membership to the YMCA fitness center that is within walking distance. Plus the lots are paved. Plus most are pull-thrus. Plus they all come with cable TV. Plus even free ice :-) Plus can even reserve the perfect spot once I decide on a move date :-) I have a few in mind... 2 are back-ins and 2 are pull-thrus. I have to find out if there is room for my car on the 2 back-ins. I like those the best because they are right on the pond under some trees :-) I AM SO EXCITED!!!
Wow, tis a lot of work downsizing my stuff. I'm glad I have plenty of time to do so... I have most of the furniture marked for this person and that person and the rest will go to the Goodwill and/or the trash. Now for all my other stuff and my clothes.... will have to take a look in Mirada when I'm there and determine how much storage there really is. I already know that I can't take this computer...I'll get a laptop instead. I'm glad you have offered to let me store some stuff at your apartment so will take advantage of that in case I just can't part with something. I'm having FUN though and am really EXCITED knowing my dream is about to become reality!!
I have so many questions that I'm seeking answers for................
1) Did you get the battery fixed?
2) Is there anything else not working?
3) I'm thinking about making an appointment to have a preventive maintenance check done on it before we park it at Grassy Pond....what appliances, systems, and/or engine items do you think need looked at, if any? Or do you think that would be a waste of time and money?
4) When does the insurance run out? How about the tag?
5) Can I / Should I leave the A/C on during the day while I'm at work? Or does it have a fan in one of the vents?
6) I will need to start up the engine and generator once a month, right? And I should probably move it periodically too, huh? Like to fill up with gas a few times during the year and let the tires and other working parts of the motorhome move/circulate? So I'd be better off in a pull-thru lot, huh? Unless of course you're gonna come down a few times a year to move her for me :-)
7) What about the awning....would it be safe for me to leave it open while I'm at work? Or should I roll it up if I know a storm is brewing? I think I answered my own question there :-)
8) Is Mirada 30 amp or 50 amp??? Does Mirada have a different plug for each kind??? Curious is all as I read about that stuff all the time and it doesn't make much sense to me.
Back.
