Welcome to my needlework page. At this time I'm only doing cross stitch, but I'd like to eventually branch out into needlepoint and hardanger as well.

Cross stitch is a relaxing and rewarding hobby/craft/art that my stepmom taught me a few years ago. I'm definitely not the fastest or most careful stitcher (I can't count the times I've had to rip out sections of my project!) but for me the joy is in the doing. Here are a few of the projects I've finished so far:

I stitched this piece years ago, but framing is pretty expensive so I have it rolled up and put away for now along with a lot of other finished projects. This was stitched over two on linen (can't remember what kind) with silk floss and beads.

This little piece was stitched over one on 36 count linen...very hard on the eyes. I used a drafting light with a magnifying lens to stitch it by, and that lens came in very handy. I have several other bee projects I've finished or am working on, since I collect honeybee and bumblebee stuff.

This is the companion piece to the bee skep above, also done on 36 count linen over one.

This is a Kokopelli that I stitched this summer while we were on vacation in disneyland. It's done on 28 count linen over two.

This is a small (2"x2") piece that I got somewhere as a freebie (slips my mind) that I did for my niece. It was done on Aida, I believe either 18 or 22 count. This was the last project I did on Aida...once I tried linen and saw how easy it was to work on and how beautiful it looked I haven't gone back. I changed this design slightly by adding Kreinik blending filament to the butterfly. It doesn't really show up in the scan, but it has a rainbow sparkle to it that's really nice. I've heard some people say blending filament is hard to work with but I didn't have any trouble with it. Maybe it was just beginner's luck.
