TWILIGHT QUILTER'S GUILD March 2007 Volume 18 #3

FUTURE MEETINGS

The Twilight Quilter's Guild meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday night of every month. Meetings are held at the Warner Park Community Center, 1625 Northport Drive, Madison, Wisconsin. Guests and new members are welcome.

If a meeting has to be cancelled due to weather conditions, an email will be sent to members by late afternoon on the day of the meeting. Members should check their email before coming to the meeting. If anyone does not have access to her email, call one of the Presidents (Katie, Rose or Ginny) or the Newsletter Editor (Donna) before coming to the meeting.

March 5, 2007

At the March 5th meeting we will have our fabric exchange. Members will bring twenty-two packets (including their own packet) with 10" by 9" rectangles from three different "country" fabrics. Members should put their names in/on the packets. Donna will bring paper bags for each person in the exchange to distribute the packets.

Directions have been emailed to members for cutting the exchanged fabric for the blocks. Donna will go over those directions at the March meeting. Judy will go through the sewing instructions again and answer any questions. Donna has put together a handout with layout options (in black-and-white) that will be distributed at the March meeting.

Also, Cindy Imhoff, from The Quilt Shop in Cambridge, will join us. Cindy will demonstrate needle punch, an old crafting technique that is new again. She will bring along punch needles and samples for a hands-on demonstration. She will also have supplies and patterns available, with some of the patterns created by local designers. Should be a fun evening!

Treats will be provided by Eileen and Bev.

And, of course, we will have show and tell.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

February 5, 2007

February 5th had an official high of zero. At 7 p.m. the temperature was minus-four with wind chills in the minus-ten to minus-twenty ranges. Given the bitterly cold weather, the Presidents decided to cancel the meeting. Helen will do her presentation on quilt settings at a future meeting.

Subsequent to the email of the meeting cancellation, Gretchen sent out an email concerning the Quilt Retreat for Bethel Horizons Prairie Center for March 29th. to April 1st. Cost is $135. The attached form requested that members send their checks to Gretchen by Feb. 12th.. Feb. 12th is the deadline for getting back our deposit if we do not meet the minimum. Members can call Gretchen or send her an email. Gretchen also let members know that she has reserved October 4 - October 7 for a fall quilt retreat in the Prairie Center so that they can plan ahead.
