How to Become a Christian
No one except God has a monopoly on the way of salvation. It is a transaction between you and God. God has prescribed the terms of that transaction, and they are really quite simple.
- Admit that you are not perfect, that you have rebelled against God by seeking your own will. In other words, admit that you, like all of the rest of us, are a sinner.
- Believe that God loves you so much that he sent His only begotten Son to die to pay your debt.
- Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died and rose from the dead that you might have eternal life and fellowship with God.
- Ask Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior and make a decision to turn your life and your will over to his care.
If you are willing to enter this transaction with God, your life will never be the same. All you need to do is to pray a prayer which encompasses these terms. I have included a suggested prayer, but your prayer must come from your heart. Remember, you are about to transact business with the Creator of the universe.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you in the name of Jesus. I know that you have promised that all who come to you will not be cast out. I admit that I have sinned against you and I want to accept your offer of a pardon. I confess that Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that you raised Him from the dead. I accept this pardon as your free gift, not as something I have earned. I want to live my life in harmony with your will, and I turn my life and my will over to your care.
