Like I said before, Dandy is my Grandpa's first donkey. He's about five years old (just like me!), and he's a spotted jack. That means that he's a boy donkey who's white with brownish-gray spots. Mommy and Grandpa told me that if he was a horse, people would call him a paint horse, but when you talk about donkeys, they're spotted! I think that's funny!

Grandpa got Dandy when he was a year and a half old, and he's been working with him to teach him to be nice ever since. Grandpa takes him to mule and donkey shows sometimes, and last year he won the Most Congenial Donkey at the Beautiful Burro Contest. That meant he was the nicest donkey there, but I could have told you that before we even got to the show!

Dandy is a pretty big donkey, and in fact, he's big enough that I can ride him. My Grandpa says that he's just short of being a mammoth jack, which are the biggest donkeys around. Even though he is big, he's very sweet, and he likes to be petted. One of his favorite things is for people to feed him carrots, so when I visit Grandma and Grandpa's house, they always make sure that there are plenty of carrots for me to feed him!

Here are some pictures of Dandy and me!

There's a lot to be done to get a donkey ready to go to a show, and in this picture, Grandpa is showing me how to give Dandy a bath!

After awhile, I got the hang of it, and I was able to give Dandy his bath all by myself! He seems to like having a bath!

Dandy with the boomerang
This is one of my favorite pictures of Dandy! Someone left a toy boomerang out at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and Dandy picked it up and brought it to Grandpa. I guess it's true that boomerangs always come back...sometimes they just need help!

Well, that's all for now, but if you like the pictures of Dandy, you might want to check back, because we're going to try to change them out so that there are always new pictures on his page! And if you want to know more about Dandy, just email my Mommy , and she'll be happy to tell you more, or help you get in touch with my Grandpa about him!
