King Family of Montgomery Co. - Genealogy

The following is information concerning the King lineage as it started in the Eastern Pennsylvania, of the English Colonies, later to be known as the United States.

Peter King (along with his two brother Nicholas and Balthasar) emigrated from Germany in the year 1752. They arrived in Philadelphia on October 16, 1752 on the good ship "Snow Kitty," Theophilus Barnes, commander (captain).

About 1760 Peter King purchased a farm in Hatfield Township, and raised sons Peter and Martin, who both settled in Bucks County in the elder years.

In 1783 Martin purchased a 100 acre farm near Leidytown, in Hilltown Township. He later purchased another farm near there, and became a trustee of the Hilltown School House (erected in 1795). The newspaper article (again thanks to cousin Donna) states that Martin supported Education in the community.

Martin died on his Hilltown farm in September, 1831 leaving his wife Elizabeth and children (third generation BTW):

Note: On the above Wisler link, you will see that one of Jacob Wisler's ancestors owned a farm next to Peter King's Hatfield farm. During this time children didn't get too far away from the farm. :o)

The family and extended family bonds were probably strong, leading to a lot of family support, good family values, and just a good healthy way to raise and care for children.

This strong, united and moral foundation probably helped build the fiber of their county.

As always, if anyone has any pictures of these ancestors (or the fourth generation), please scan them, save as jpeg or gif, and email them to me at gerry_benner@yahoo.com

Thanks for your support.
