Walter McCorkle (my Great Great Grandfather): born April 4, 1821 place unknown, died November 16, 1852 in Washington County Iowa. On April 25, 1843 he married Katherine Perkins as per the following.

April 19th 1843 Marriage License to Walter McCorkle of Marion County and Katherine Perkins of Hendricks County [??????) have since been joined in marriage as appears by the following Certificate [?????]: State of Indiania Hendricks County. I the undersigned a Minister of the Gospel of ?????. Certify that Mr. Walter McCorkle and wife Katharine Perkins were legally joined together as husband and wife on the twenty five day of April 1 843 by me. Hugh Wells M. C. co filed August 22 1843

Children: Besides my Great Grandfather Joseph Hillis McCorkle, this family had two other children; Nancy Jane McCorkle born August 1, 1848 died March 17, 1852 & Rebecca Ann McCorkle born April 21, 1851 in Indiana, married Joseph Marcellus Snider December 8, 1870. She died July 3, 1933 at Lockridge Iowa.

Death Records: Inventory of Property of Walter McCorkle, deceased, dated Dec. 27th 1852 Washington County Iowa. One mare & Colt, Two sows & pigs, One Calf, One rifle gun, One harness, One axe, One hoe, One bed & Bedding, Six acres of corn, Five bushels of buckwheat, One small stack of oats, One drawing knife, Three chairs , One table, Cooking utensils Inventory Taken by Nelson F. Livermore, Thomas Barten, William Bigham. Note - They had three children, although Nancy died at age 3, yet this poor family had only one bed and three chairs. Walter McCorkle died Nov. 16, 1852, aged 31 ys 7 mo & 12 days.
