The BC Provincial Level 1 Vaulting Coach certification program was developed to provide a means of
assessing and certifying vaulting coaches, in the absence of any national program. The hopes of a Canadian
Vaulting Association and national coaching standards are still a distant dream. Currently vaulting is only a
significant sport in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.
In British Columbia , there are active vaulting groups in at least a dozen communities. As the sport grows,
it is critical that the athletes are training with qualified individuals. This is why the Equestrian Vaulting
Association of BC proceeded with a program to train and certify coaches at the provincial level and HCBC
has acknowledged their program.
In developing this program, the Equestrian Vaulting Association of BC looked at the National requirements
for other disciplines and established vaulting coaching programs.
