What is Horse Council B.C.?

 

Horse Council B.C. is the corporate association held responsible for the equestrian activities in the province of British Columbia. Operated on a non-profit basis, the Council is a provincial network of riders and drivers, coaches and officials, clubs and affiliates and supporters. It is recognized as the equestrian voice to all federal and provincial government agencies, and is responsible for the national aims and objectives of the Canadian Equestrian Federation.

Horse Council draws direction from its membership, which is represented on the board of directors by two directors from each of the eight zones in the province and one director from each B.C. affiliate or B.C. breed association member. Canadian Equestrian Federation members are also represented on the board by eight directors who are concerned with the affairs of over 2,000 C.E.F. members.

Horse Council's responsibilites lie in three main divisions: Equestrian Sports, incorporating Olympic and F.E.I. disciplines as well as other English and Western interests; Recreationan Riding and Driving, promoting non-competitive riding activites, saftey ascpects and preservation of the right to ride; and Horse Industry, which developes and improves communiaction among breeders , promotes breed improvement and investiages markets for B.C. bred horses.
