He was granted his first land patent for 190 acres on the bayside called Orwick on November 30, 1665. On May 1, 1683, he was granted a patent for 150 acres called Orwick's Ferry (Fancy), located on the north side of the Severn River. In 1675, a will was filed in Annapolis where he was listed as the son of Elizabeth Moose, his father having died and his mother having married, as her second husband, Richard Moose. In September 1681, James was paid 510 pounds of tobacco by the Province of Maryland for services he had rendered. His will was probated November 11, 1690, in which he names his wife, Mary, as executrix and his sons, William, John and James.Spouse: 3. Mary Slade
