What is happening to our country and our children? Why have we become such a violent society? There have been many wise people that have tried to come up with the answers to these questions. There is not one simplistic answer,it is a combination of many factors. The breakup of the family is a very major factor. The use of drugs and alcohol also contributes. The lack of parental responsibility is among the contributors.Of course, there is the media but often times this is used as a cop out for lack of personal responsibility. Then some say it is the guns.Of course, they could also use a knife, bomb or their fists.Ask anyone that has been a victim of domestic violence how they felt to have been beaten up and left for dead. Some were killed by these same hands that were supposed to love and nurture them.
They also could use a car as their weapon of choice.A car can also be a weapon.Ask any parent that has lost a child by the actions of a drunk driver. No,it is not the guns that are the problem. It is society itself. If a person has the desire to harm someone they can use anything to inflict pain, even their hands.
It is so heartbreaking to answer the phone and hear a little child scream that he is being beaten up either by mommy or her live in boyfriend. Many times the mommy or boyfriend are on crack and the child dosen't stand a chance.Too many times Childrens Services returns the child back into this home. Then the dreaded call comes when you must go and gather the little, frail body of a helpess child that was killed by the hands of his parent.
There are victims of violence that have come from loving homes but like the victims honored here they were at the mercy of an adult or another child that became monsters.
Why are we giving our toddlers Prozac? Is this the kind of world we are creating? If you feel bad or have a behavior disorder, pop a pill. What will happen when these toddlers become teenagers?
Yes,there are many reasons why our children have become violent.Perhaps, they are just emulating what they see at home.If a child lives with violence he will become violent.

No More Tears From Heaven
When again will it be safe
for our children to walk the halls
Not to watch our children die
and see their blood upon the walls
To make the world a safer place
for everyone to live
To teach our children everywhere
not to take away, but to give
Give us life and freedom
the happiness and joy
Not to cause pain and sorrow
to any girl or boy
Pray for every man and woman
each person you pass on the way
And for every child there is
pray each and every day
Teach our children how to be
more open, free and honest
Make our world a safer place
for every person on it
Children with seeds of anger
who have no one on which to depend
We all must reach out to our children
for the violence to end
Hold your children close to you
show all the love you have in your heart
Don't let them push you away
or anger tear you apart
Find common ground
between you and your child
To show love and caring
not the anger, the wild
When all the violence stops
and all our prayers have risen
Only then can our world be safe
and have no more tears from Heaven
