Isabella (1295-1358), daughter of Philip the Fair of France, married Edward II of England at Boulogne in 1308. She and the king did not agree, and she often sided with his enemies. She was probably privy to his murder, and she and her paramour, Mortimer, ruled England for some time after the ascession of her son, Edward III. [World Wide Illustrated Encyclopedia, 1935]
