  1. Qu whether Savage's Genealogical Dictionary does not give the name as Edward -JHD [ED] We can now fill in some of Hoxie’s blanks. In answer first to John H Dillingham's question, it was certainly Edward; his brother John left no Dillingham issue except for a son Edward who died young. Edward2, son of Henry and Hannah Perry, married Abigail Nye, and their son Edward born 12 March 1704 etc. We also have the names of Ignatius’ numerous children. In Dudley’s ms, page 20, a family tree lists Edward Dillingham, his wife Elizabeth Goodspeed, and their children: Cornelius, Sylvanus, Stephen, Remember, Ignatius, and John who became a Methodist. The family tree shows him as Admiral Edward Dillingham. He was born in 1704. He would be pretty long in the tooth to be an Admiral in the Revolution. He was certainly dedicated to the sea, as was his wife. All of their children except the last were born at sea! See notes under Elizabeth Goodspeed from Margaret Gibson giving additional dates.
