H
enry was born in England during the reign of Charles I, but came to America with his parents, as a child. Some confusion exists about his age. In response to a note from my grandfather, Dean Dudley sent this:

[FWD]   Can you fix Henry’s birth more closely?
[DD]   He was married in 1652. He was younger than John who was born in 1630 in England. [but see below-ED]
[FWD]   Where was he born?
[DD]   Henry was born in this country as I have found by circumstances. [In other words, Dudley found no record of Henry’s birth, but believing him to be younger than John placed his birth here-ED]
[FWD]   Whom did he marry?
[DD]   Hannah Perry
[FWD]   When?
[DD]   June 24, 1652
[FWD]   Where?
[DD]   at Sandwich
[FWD]   Can you fix his death more closely?
[DD]   Aug 1705.

In Dean Dudley’s manuscript we find this pasted in: Statement from Newell Hoxie of Sandwich, Mass 4th month 21, 1862 (Copied and sent to Dudley by John H Dillingham of Philadelphia 4mo.6.1895) A JohnA Dillingham (who came from England it is said) had two sons, John and Henry. The latter married Hannah Perry, 6mo.24.1652 and lived in Sandwich. Their son Edward, born 2mo.21.1665, married Abigail [blank in Hoxie’s note but now known to be Nye] and lived in Sandwich; and their son Edward born _____1703/4 married Elizabeth [Goodspeed] __, 17__(?); and their son Ignatius married Deborah Gifford, 2/ /1762. They settled in Falmouth. Ignatius died 8 mo.15, 1816. Deborah died 10/22/1793 and Ignatius’ second wife Hannah died 7/25/1829. Ignatius and Deborah’s son Joseph born 11/1/1776 married Esther Rogers [of Marshfield] and their son Abram b.9/4/1812, married Lydia B Hoag [parents of the present John H Dillingham.] Footnote for asterisk in John Dillingham:

  1. Qu whether Savages Geneaological Dictionary does not give the name as Edward? JHD. [from Edward Dillingham] From another source Dudley later found that Henry was born in 1627 in England.] Alexander (pg 21) gives 13 Oct 1624 for his baptism. [DILLIN.GED]
