ohn Dillingham [b.1630] m. Elizabeth Feake (m.24 May 1651) had with others whose names are not recorded: John (2d) b.1663. Captain of the Train Band [?] wife's name Hannah. His wife was Lydia Chapman, dau of Isaac, son of Ralph. Lydia died Sept 4, 1760 in 81st year of her age. John 3d of Barnstable married Lydia d. of Isaac Chapman. Died 11 Dec 1746. Wife died 9 Sept 1760. [wrong; John 3 lived 1701-1763] [Listed under John 3d are 7 children, number 5 being John b.1701. This seems most unlikely. I suspect this is a list of the children of John 2d, and John 3d was born 1701. ED] Dean Dudley copied the following gravestone inscriptions in the Old Burying Ground at West Brewster, Massachusetts, on 23 Aug 1849: [notes in brackets by ED] Here lies buried Mrs Mary Dillingham, widow of Mr John Dillingham, who decd February the 19th 1764 in the 48th year of her age. Beneath this stone here lies ye dust of her that's numbered with the just. She left this earth and gone to dwell above. [Born 1716; may be third wife of John b.1702] [No: Johns 3rd wife was Mary b.1701, d.12 Sept 1764] Here lies the body of Mrs Abigail Dillingham the wife of Mr John Dillingham, who died September the 9th,1749 in the 39th year of her age. [Born 1710; may be second wife of John b.1702] Here lies the body of Mr John Dillingham, who died Janry ye 30th, 1763 in ye 61st year of his age. Remember me as you pass by for as you are so once was I Therefore prepare to follow me. [Born 1702: did he have three wives?] Here lyes buried ye the body of Mrs Mehetabel Dillingham, wife to Mr John Dillingham who died Feb 21 AD 1738 in the 33 year of her age. [Born 1705; possibly first wife to John b.1702] Here lies buried the body of Mrs Lydia Dillingham, widow to Mr John Dillingham. She departed this life Sept the 4th, 1760 in the 81st year of her age. [Born 1679; wife of John 2d b.1663] Edward, son of John and Lydia Dillingham, aged about 9 days, died May ye 27th, 1715.
