lfonso II (of Aragón) (1152-96),
king of Aragón, the son of Ramón Berenguer IV, count of
Barcelona. Alfonso became count of Barcelona in 1162 and king of
Aragón in 1164, and in 1166 he inherited the county of Provence.
A poet and musician, Alfonso is remembered for his patronage of
