John3, b. 18 Jul 1700; d. 1775 aged about 73 (Sandwich Friends Meeting records). He was an active Quaker, and a dissenter to the town’s agreement to employ Mr. Palmer as minister in 1730. In his will, 24 Mar 1774, proved in 1775, he gives: "To my nephew Freeman Landers... three quarters of all my estate, both real and personal.... To Abishai Landers, eldest son of sd Freeman Landers, the other quarter of all my Estate, and I constitute the above Freeman Landers and David Covel, executors" (Barnstable County Probates, 17:266). The inventory taken by David Boardman, John Bowerman, and Stephen Crowell, totalled £1,977.19s. Dated 29 Jul 1775, proved 11 May 1780 (ibid., 11:99). He had witnessed the will of his brother Amos in 1764, but when the instrument was presented for probate 12 Jun 1781, the executor deposed that John Landers was then deceased. [Lydia B.
