oseph5 Landers (Prince4, Amos3, Richard2, Thomas1), born about 1769, died 14 Oct. 1853 "of old age, a widower" (Falmouth Town Records).
He married 30 Dec 1802 Abigail5 Fish (he is called "Mr.", and in the intentions she is called "Miss Nabby" (Falmouth Town Records)), daughter of Prince4 Fish (Rowland3, Nathan2, Nathaniel1) and Freelove5 (Phinney) Fish, and granddaughter of Thomas4 Phinney of Falmouth, born in Falmouth 12 May 1782.
The fragmentary records of deeds which have survived the fire in Barnstable seem to prove that Prince5 Landers and Joseph5 Landers were brothers; in one of them, Prince5 is designated as a son of Prince - by extension it would seem that this Joseph5 Landers was also a son of Prince. In 1827 a deed (see under Levi Landers below) shows that Abigail Landers, wife of Joseph5 Landers, together with the heirs of Prince5 Landers, signed a conveyance to Luther Bowerman, thus providing additional evidence of the parentage of Joseph5 Landers (although it seems strange that Joseph did not release his claim to the property).
