Capt. Joseph5 Landers (John4-3-2, Thomas1), born 9 Jan 1746, died in 1852 - "at Stark, Maine, Capt. Joseph Landers, formerly of Sandwich, Mass., ae. 85" (Columbian Centinel, 2 May 1832). [I'm assuming that the 1852 is a typo, since the paper's date is twenty years earlier - and 1832 would make him 85 when he died. jl]

He married 15 Feb. 1770 Annah Jones "of this town" - Barnstable Town Records, where he is called "of Sandwich" (date given in Sandwich Town Records, also).

Further research should confirm our belief that this is the Joseph Landers, with a family of one male over 16, one under 16, and no less than eight females, listed in the 1790 Census at Winslow, Lincoln County, Mass. (now Maine). [Lydia B. (Phinney) Brownson and Maclean W. McLean, "Thomas1 Landers of Sandwich, Mass.," NEHGR 124:273]
