oseph2, b. about 1666; d. between 27 July 1749 & 4 May 1750; mar. Rebecca, widow of John4 Allen (John3, Ralph2, George1). It appears that Joseph Landers moved to Dartmouth for a time. We find him described as of that town in a deed dated 15 Jan. 1707/8, when he purchased a 100-acre tract there from Ebenezer Tripp (Bristol County Deeds, 7:365). But a deed of 15 March shows that "Joseph Landers of Sandwich... yeoman" sold the same farm in Dartmouth for £245 to Matthew Wing of Dartmouth, described as "all my house and 100 acres of land... within the 800 Acre Purchase". Witnessed by Nathaniel and Meribah Soule, and acknowledged at Sandwich 21 March 1714/15; recorded at Taunton 1 Oct. 1721 (ibid., 14:2). The Sandwich Friends Meeting records make clear that Joseph Landers was an active member of the Meeting there; he witnessed many marriages there, including that of his step son, Judah5 Allen to Rebecca Wing in 1727. His will, dated 27 Jul 1749, proved 4 May 1750, names his wife Rebeckah and his wifes son Judah Allen who was made executor. He gave "To my brother Richard Landers £10, and to [Richards] daughter Abigail £5. To my sister Hasadiah Ewen.... To the grand daughters of my kinsman Amos Landers and daughter of sd Amoss late daughter Sarah.... To Zilpha Moon who once dwelt with me.... To each of the children of my late brother Thomas Landers, £5. To my kinsman Joseph Weight, son of my late sister Tabatha, £5. To the Quaker Meeting in Sandwich £10." Witnessed by: Jabez Blossom, Phebe Pike, Hannah Nye (Barnstable County Probates, 8:393,4). [Lydia B. (Phinney) Brownson and Maclean W. McLean, "Thomas1 Landers of Sandwich, Mass.," NEHGR 124:45]
