icholas⁵ Landers (Prince⁴, Amos³, Richard², Thomas¹), born about 1757, died, probably at Falmouth, after 14 Aug. 1822.

He married 27 Dec. 1780 Martha⁶ Hatch (Falmouth Town Records, 2:84), daughter of Obed⁵ and Ruth (Dexter) Hatch of Falmouth (Genealogy and History of the Hatch Family, compiled by the Hatch Genealogical Association (1925), 1:74), baptized in Rochester 14 Nov 1762, died 14 Aug 1822 (ibid., 2:123 - she was called wife, not widow, of Nicholas).

As we have noted, from internal evidence it seems reasonably certain that this man was a son of Prince⁴ Landers although direct proof has not been found. We believe it certain that Nicholas⁵ Landers was a grandson of Amos³ Landers. Perhaps in the unpublished Sandwich Friends meeting records covering Falmouth and the neighboring towns, or in the Rochester monthly meeting records (where Obed Hatch lived for a time) proof may be found.

The 1790 Census shows Nicholas Landers at Falmouth with a family of two males over 16 (of which one, we think, was a younger brother of Nicholas); two males under 16 and three females (of which one would seem to have been the young daughter, Susannah, and perhaps the other a younger sister of Nicholas). The 1800 Census for Falmouth shows Nicholas head of a household of one male 26-45, one male under 10, one female 26-45, one female 16-26 (Susannah), and three females under 10. [Lydia B.
