A member of Provincial Parliament (1824-36) and Speaker of Dominion House. Port Perry is named for him, and Whitby was once called "Perry’s Corners". Among the many bills he introduced was one to improve Whitby Harbour. He married Mary Ham (UEL) and had 8 children. The eldest, Robert Ebenezer was very active in Municipal politics.
