These are the days of our lives. On the brighter side it is open air concert time and we enjoyed a free open air concert by the Swan River last Saturday. There were thousands of people picnicing on the grass and we relaxed with our champagne, enjoyed the cool night air and some fine music.
On MARCH 1st 1998, Lauren Niamh Nora was born Hasn't she got to be cute! She is Heather's cousin
Last year we were all saddened by the death of three dolphins who had given us much pleasure over the past years. Heather, Colin and I visit Underwater World regularly as we have season tickets. We first took Heather when she was about six months old. So far, noone knows why the dolphins died. They were fit and healthy. We sometimes used to visit them and they would come up close to us. They were our friends. Have a look at them here
and see them in peak condition. P.S.We have now found out that the dolphins were deliberately poisoned. We just cannot imagine why someone could do such a thing. EASTER TIME Here is the Easter Bilby to help us wish you a happy Easter Yes, we do have the Easter Bunny but wild rabbits are considered to be vermin in Australia as they do a lot of damage and breed like.....rabbits! The Easter Bilby on the other hand is a nice little native animal who can do the same job delivering Easter eggs etc. You can find out more about the Bilby here
On Good Friday we have hot cross buns and coffee with our friends. You are welcome to come. Despite all the commercial hype and the oversupply of expensive Easter Eggs, Easter still holds a special meaning in the church calendar and most businesses are closed on Good Friday. Our church, The Uniting Church in Australia, holds Easter Camps and services on Maunday Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
May is always a busy month for us as we celebrate four birthdays as well as Mothers Day and Foundation Day and now will will have a wedding anniversary as Susan (Heather's Mum) and Mark got married on 23rd. For more about Susan,Mark and Heather, check out their lovely new homepage It was a beautiful day and a wonderful intimate family wedding
Hello! We are back from a wonderful trip round the world. We travelled Star Alliance and visited Our mid winter months and the days are supposed to be wetter and gloomier...but nothing compared with the Northern hemisphere winter. Unfortunately for the farmers, we have had very little rain and the weather is spring like and sunny with cold nights. Even the roses dont know what season it is and are blossoming when they are supposed to be dormant. We were all very excited one day to see some Southern Right Whales swimming very close in to one of the beaches near us.Most people stopped on their way to work and there was a bit of a traffic jam. Find out about Southern Right Whales here. Colin and I have just spent three weeks in New Zealand, mostly in the South Island and we had the best time. We travelled by train and bus mostly and met some very interesting people. We went Whale Watching and saw some Sperm Whales, and one day we visited Doubtful Sound, which is not a sound at all but a fjord. You have to cross a lake and then a mountain to get there. It absolutely poured all day. The mountains are granite so the water does not soak in and we saw the most incredible water falls everywhere, some of them hundreds of feet. While we were away the terrorist disaster happened. We were transfixed and appalled that such a thing should happen and our prayers go out to all our many friends in the U.S whose lives have in any way been challenged by this event. Our firm belief that we can have a free and peaceful world in the near future continues on. >

JUNE AND JULY
Our mid winter months have arrived and the days are supposed to be wetter and gloomier...but nothing compared with the Northern hemisphere winter. It does get pretty cold at night, down to zero sometimes but that just means another log on the fire and one more blanket.
Colins brother and his wife met us in Phuket, one of our favourite relaxing places in Thailand. We had a great time. Pam and I rode elephants and had foot massages while the guys looked on.We all swam in the pool, when we were dodging showers...It was a very wet October but it did not really worry us. One of our favourite places is the Phi Phi Islands out in the Andaman Sea.We stayed there two nights. This is Phi Phi Don Isn't it beautiful?
JULY
is our mid winter month and the days are shorter, wetter and gloomier...but nothing compared with the Northern hemisphere winter. We were all very excited to see some Southern Right Whales swimming very close in to one of the beaches near us.Most people stopped on their way to work and there was a bit of a traffic jam.
