Looking for Love
Jack Russell Terriers Available for Adoption.

IMPORTANT: If you are looking for a cute little lap dog, look elsewhere; if you live in an apartment without a backyard, CONSIDER THE TIME THIS BREED TAKES! JRTs need ALOT OF ROOM, and an ENORMOUS amount of ATTENTION.
Read Jack Russell Info to learn more about the breed.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an
ON-LINE Application

Please note that not every home is suitable for a Jack Russell Terrier.
The Jack Russell Terrier Club of America and Cody's Dog House work work together to find good matches between terriers and their prospective new owners. We carefully screen to ensure that we place the dogs in homes that match the needs of both. So applying for a specific dog may not always work out in your favor.

Please review the Requirements for adoption listed below:

Securely fenced yard.
No same-sex terriers in the home.
Crate.
Obedience classes or training experience.
No children under 9 years old.
Adoption fee, to help cover expenses of rescue (averaging $100).
Patience in helping dog adjust to new home.
Travel expenses (if required).
Experience/knowledge of the breed.
Lots of love.

BAILEY

BAILEY
COMMENTS: Bailey is 4 years old. Her owners are giving her up because Bailey doesn’t like to be left alone and barks too much. She likes to cuddle, is playful, loves walks and her favorite pastime is burrowing in blankets. She is good with children over 9 years old. Bailey would probably do best in a home with other dogs. She has not had any formal obedience training, however, she does know the commands “sit”, “stay”, “down”, and “no”, and recognizes the “go for a walk” term. She is completely housebroken, rides well in the car and is up to date on her shots. Bailey will need an experienced JRT owner, as she has a bit of an authority problem.

MAXX

MAXX
COMMENTS: MAXX is an 18 month old neutered male who ended up in a shelter because his owner couldn't handle him. Poor little guy; he's yet another example of what happens when an owner doesn't research the JRT breed before they buy one. Maxx is untrained but has a lot of potential. He hates large breeds and cats but is okay with female terriers. He's a very sweet dog who adores children. MAXX needs an owner who has a firm but loving hand and has the time to teach him to be a good companion. In fostercare in the MD/DC/VA area.

TYLER

TYLER
COMMENTS: Tyler is a very nice dog! He has interesting coloring too! He is 4 years old, gets along great with other dogs, is crate trained (but will bark when left alone... at least for awhile). Tyler came from the Montgomery County Humane Society. His owner became ill and entered the hospital, and could no longer care for Tyler. He gets along good with other dogs (I have an unaltered male JRT and a nuetered male dobie/x), and I am informed he used to sleep with a cat (but you can never trust a JRT to this). Tyler is housebroken and is a smooth coat (they shed too in case you didn't know that!). He knows the commands: sit, come, stay, down and crate. Tyler rides well in the car. He will require "harness" walking, as he tends to "choke" himself on a collar. He like to sleep in bed with you at night. Seeking a home with another dog, preferably female!
