For 12 years before his death in 1926, he lived with his youngest daughter, Emilie Nagel Eggerding at Charter Oak and Luzerne, Iowa. He and his wife are buried in the cemetery at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois. Spelling of name is exactly as s hown on records of St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois.
