groom intends to make his living in the meantime from his smith' profession.
Since the groom has the hope, that after some time he will receive the bride's place in Helpsen,
it remains to be seen if he or his brother will receive their parents property, and who will pay the
other out, butt hat if the groom will keep his parents estate and the present bride wil l also live

At the age of 16 she came from Germany to the United States, 1868.
(Exact date was 20 July, 1868) She was tall, slim, and blond with blue
eyes. She was the seventh child and the second daughter. In a letter
from Hermann Eggers dated September 9, 1994, he stated that he had
checked the Parish Registers in Vehlen and Meinsen, Germany and could
not find any record of her mother or brothers or sisters emigrating to
the United States. Mr. Eggers did not mention her father, but he thi nks
that she emigrated alone.

City, Utah 84110. Engel Sophia Christine came to the United States
aboard the vessel "Northern Light" which sailed from Bremen, Germany,
and arrived in New York, N. Y. on October 9, 1868
Engel Sophia Christine and her husband are buried in the cemetery o f St.
John's Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois. Tombstone shows date of
birth as 15 November 1852. Tombstone shows year of her death as 1912

Notes for FRIEDRICH WILHELM NAGEL:
Came to the United States in 1850 to Horse Prairie (east of Red Bud)
Illinois. He attended the Lutheran school and was confirmed by Rev.
Erdmann in 1859. On August 1, 1869, he and his wife were married in S t.
John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois. He lived east of Red Bu d where
he farmed. For 12 years before his death in 1926, he lived with his
youngest daughter, Emilie Nagel Eggerding at Charter Oak and Luzerne,
Iowa. He and his wife are buried in the cemetery at the St. John's
Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois. Spelling of name is exactly as s hown
on records of St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois.
The couple had fifteen children but five (not named) died in infancy . It
should be noted from the records that every child lived long enough t o be
baptized (christened) at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illin ois.
The 1880 census of Randolph County, Illinois lists the family as the
following: Fred Nagel, 33, born in Prussia, Germany; Christina, 27 , wife,
born in Prussia, Germany; Henry Nagel, 7, son, born in Illinois; Caro line,
5, daughter, born in Illinois (Grandmother Carle, later); Emma 3,
daughter, born in Illinois, Lida 1, daughter, born in Illinois. 1 ch ild not
reported.
