Just because
the primary valve chest is smaller does
not mean it is any easier. The first step
is to remove the screws holding the
"L" channel board in place.

Next the
junction board where the lead tubing was
connected is removed from the chest.
Notice the lead stubs are still in the
junction board.

Remember the
junction board with all the lead tubing
stubs. Now it is time to remove the
stubs. Trying to pull the stubs out
resulted in breaking at the wood line.
Another method would be needed to remove
the stubs.

After the
sealant (burnt shellac) was removed I
used a screw that was just a size larger
than the tubing to screw into the lead
and then pull out. Be careful not to use
to large a size screw or the lead will be
imbedded into the wood. I used a small
box end wrench to assist in pulling out
the lead.
