TAKE A BOW

What do you think of when you think of magic?
Do you think of tricks, illusions, the disappearing act?
Or maybe pulling a rabbit out of a hat,
or the extremely precise tricks, everything so exact.

My idea of magic doesn’t involve any of these.
But it does involve wonder and unexpected delight.
Gasping with surprise and marveling at it all!
The world abounds in this magic! Come see, I invite.

When a dolphin plunges arching above the sea,
or when a toddler finds her first seashells on the shore.
Amazed to be able to hear the ocean inside.
It’s times like these I want to shout, “Anchor! Anchor!”

Or when I see an eagle rising higher into the sun,
it’s beautiful wings outstretched as it rides out the breeze.
Or when everything turns white, literally a wonderland.
A child gasps with surprise as the water begins to freeze.

Then as the months pass on into the new season,
the child is again surprised, as the spring grass begins to arise.
You see, nature is the best magician of them all!
Her magic is all around us, each day with a new sun rise.

Her magic so beautiful, has infinite mystery!
Yet she is constantly exposing a new secret, a new wonder!
The only illusion, is our own inability to see it.
In the changing of the seasons, the weather, a crack of thunder!

What delight Nature would feel if we could only see,
all her magic, and all her glory, each atom playing it’s part.
The stars she throws up, decorating the empty sky.
Billions of reasons for one to awake with pure joy in one’s heart.

We need to re-ignite the magic in each of our souls.
Open our hearts and appreciate the magic on her stage Earth.
We need to do this, then Nature finds her reward.
When the whole universe smiles at her grandest trick, a baby’s birth.
