Kris won the Spring Meet at Turfway Park ( 1/1/01 - 4/6/01) setting a record for most wins along the way. The old record was 86 and she had 110 before being injured on 3/17/01. The meet still had three weeks to go.
On 3/17/01 Kris had a horse flip and go under the starting gate. Her legs were pinned against the back of the gate untill the gate crew physically lifted her out and over the gate (GREAT CREW-by the way).
At this point kris was leading jockey in the nation. Unable to ride she remained the leading jockey (in wins) untill 4/22/01.
Kris returned to the track on 6/7/01. While exercising a horse on 6/8/01 she pulled her shoulder out of it's socket. She continued to ride untill 6/12/01 her shoulder coming out two more times. She was forced to get an operation to staple the tendons back up. After intense physical therapy she returned once again on 8/19/01 winning her first race back.
Kris then rode at Ellis Park and occasionally River Downs.
Kris could not ride between 8/29/01 - 9/2/01 as she was penalized by the stewards for having her horse veere over. She will be riding Laber Day 9/3/01 ( last day of the Ellis meet )
Kris has pulled herself off her hoses as of 9/11/01. Her shoulder operation did not heal properly and she has been under extreme pain---she will be following a closely monitored regiment of therapy and hopes to return by december. We hope and pray she will recover and be stronger than before. I will forward any letters to Kris.
