INNOCENCE

Sometimes it is easy to mistake being innocent for being naive, simple-minded, or slow.
We all want to seem sophisticated, up with the times, so often we just act like we know.

Yet there is a deep truth in innocence, when a baby sees only love in his mother’s eyes.
Then as innocence fades away, we learn we need to out wit others with schemes and lies.

With innocence gone, there is room for more complicated things to come in and take its place.
Promotions, salaries, and pensions to fight for, trying to succeed in this cat and mouse chase.

With so much at stake like your future, and so many different schedules to juggle.
We begin to spend more time protecting ourselves, then life becomes a struggle.

Perhaps we have no choice, how else will we survive in this coorprate crazed race?
With everyone competing against everyone else, lost in the crowds, just another face.

But if you think about it, survival, it is just seeing your suroundings and then responding too.
You have to begin to see things as they really are, not with one narrow point of view.

Innocense is being open to others ideas, whether they be opposing to our’s, parallel or strange.
Without new concepts or imaginative thoughts, the things we wish to today would never change.

That’s what innocense is, not being committed to any pre-set way, void of change, locked.
It’s not being in any set pattern of thinking and responding, your creativity forever blocked.

No. Innocense is simple and trusting like a child, so pure and fresh and new.
Without it you miss the magic and the freshness of the moment, miricles become few.

Remember your youth and reclaim your imagination, your simple wonder of a sun’s ray.
Learn to be innocent again, and the freshness and magic will never again fade away.

You will once again see the miricles, in a loved one’s gesture or a baby’s smile.
You will once again see the beauty in life, if you can learn to be the innocent child.
