Although there are many species of fish in western Quebec and eastern Ontario, trout fishing remains my favorite. They can be hard to catch, but when you do get a nice one on the line, you get a simlar fight to that of a small mouth Bass, which makes it all worthwhile. They are delicious to eat and there are several ways to prepare them including; frying, barbeque, poaching and smoking. Some of the lakes which are located within 100 miles of Ottawa are: Coghlan, where my camp is, Humprey, where I caught the big speckle, Gagnon, Rolly, Turcotte, Tenesse, and Finlay! The easiest way to find these lakes is to head for Waltham, Pontiac Quebec, go to the General store located on main street and purchase a Waltham Angler's Card for $10.00. With the purchase you'll receive a map, and a number of tall tales.
