I hook for baby yarn NOTE: BE SURE TO CROCHET LOOSE ENOUGH SO THAT YOUR TENSION DOESN'T MAKE THIS LIKE A "BUTTERFLY" SQUARE WITH THE CORNERS LARGER THAN THE SIDES. Size of Square will depend on type of yarn and hook size. I used baby sport and got about a 3" square after 3 rounds. Note: Work first 2 rounds as you would a traditional granny square. Special Stitches: LDC= Long double crochet- double crochet in designated stitch on row below rather than the row you're working on. Chain 5, join to form circle. Rnd 1: Ch 2, 2dc in ring. (Ch 3, 3dc) 3 times in ring. Ch 3, join with sl st. Slip St. to next Corner sp. Rnd 2: (Ch 2, 2dc in sp, ch 3, 3dc) in same space- corner made. *Ch 2, 3dc in next space, ch 2 across to next corner. 3 dc, ch 3, 3dc in corner sp. Repeat from * to joining. Rnd 3 (Begins Pattern round): Slip St to next ch 3 sp. Work corner in ch 3 sp. *ch 2, (dc, work LDC into the MIDDLE stitch of the 3dc group below, dc in sp again). Repeat from *around to joining. Ch 2, join. You may follow pattern for as many rounds as you wish- Repeat round 3 for additional rounds.
