THE CHURCH I ATTEND, EVERY YEAR SENDS A GROUP TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY TO DO A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT FOR DIFFERENT MISSIONARY ORGANIZATIONS. WE WENT TO MEXICO ONE YEAR TO BUILD A BASKETBALL/ INDOOR SOCCER COURT FOR YOUTH FOR CHRIST IN MERIDA, YUCATAN AND IN 1996 WE WENT TO A MACO INDIAN VILLAGE IN AMAZONAS, VENEZUELA, TO BUILD A HOUSE FOR A NEW TRIBES MISSIONARY FAMILY LIVING WITH THE INDIANS. IN 1993 A BUSINESS PARTNER AND I WERE OFFER THE CHANCE TO DEVELOPE A RESORT ON THE COAST OF BELIZE. BELIZE IS LOCATED IN CENTRAL AMERICA, FORMALLY KNOWN AS BRITISH HONDURAS. ALTHOUGH WE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH RESOURCES TO HANDLE THE PROJECT THE AREA IS COMING ALONG VERY NICELY BY THE LOCALS AND A FEW HARDY INVESTORS (CHECK DOWN BELOW). FROM ALL THIS I FIND THE MORE REMOTE A PLACE IS THE BETTER I LIKE IT. IN VENEZUELA A GROUP OF US TRAVELED 250 MILES INTO THE AMAZON RAINFOREST. THE INDIANS THERE HAVE ONLY HAD CONTACT WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD 23 YEARS AGO AND LET ME TELL YOU THEY MAY BE PRIMATIVE IN SOME OF THEIR WAYS BUT THEY ARE CERTAINLY NOT BACKWARDS OR STUPID. THEY HAVE A CULTURE THAT GOES BACK CENTURIES THEY HAVE DEEP SEEDED RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND CUSTOMS SUITED FOR THE CONDITIONS IN WHICH THE LIVE.
