... my Grandfather was raised in Floyd Co. somewhere near Prestonsburg. The name that was told to me was Abbott's Creek. Little is known about him and was hoping you all could help me with anything. We are not sure where he was born, but do know that he is Irish. I was told that he was raised by an Aunt (not sure of her name). His father passed away when he was young. I do know travelled to West Virginia and was either married there or on the way. His wife was a full Indian and died while giving birth. The child survived. She is my Aunt. She does not even know her mothers real name. The person I am searching is:
James Walter HACKWORTH (Jimmy) born July 09, 1899. His second marriage to my grandmother Sylvia CLAY was in February of 1929 in WyomingCo. WV, I have a record of this.
I am told that his father was named Jackson HACKWORTH, and mother was Martha WEBB, no other information is available on them either.
. . . .Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, more of my family are from Pike Co., KY. Are there any publications that are produced for amatuer people like myself?
My Great-Grandfather was a member of a group called "BLIND TIGERS"., a cousin of mine and I would like to know more on this group, can anyone help us?
I am also working on learning of Ben and Sally ALLEN ONEY, did they have many children? I heard that one or both were Cherokee. Their daughter Nancy ONEY, married Jacab WIREMAN in Floyd Co. 1820, he was a brother to John, and Abraham WIREMAN. I do not know much of the WIREMAN line either, I can't afford to buy the book. I know that Jacob and Nancy were on the 1850 Morgan Co., KY, as were my other relatives, John and Elizabeth FLANNARY OSBORNE. John Stephen and Maranda WIREMAN OSBORNE, (John Stephen was the s/o John and Elizabeth). John Stephen and Maranda had a son William born 1843 MO, he was by Great-Grandfather. William was a Confederate Soldier, signed up in Floyd in Oct. 1861, he was in Company E. His brothers were Johnson, Stephen, and James Wesley, Isaac Newton OSBORNE. William married Elizabeth TYREE, in 1871 Estill Co,m KY, they were on the 1880 Menifee Co. KY. There was a Benjamin and Elizabeth BRODERICK TYREE, married in Floyd Co. March 1822. Does anyone know if they tie to the Morgan, Madison, Mercer, Estill, Breathitt, Owsley, Rockcastle, Wolfe, Garrard, Powell County group of TYREE/TIREY/TYRA. I hav two direct lines. Should anyone know if Ben and Elizabeth had children and other material of this family, or any other TYREE line, I will trade material. Thank you.
. . . .Would you be able to help me (cost)?
1. I need a copy of 4 July 1916, Prestonsburg, KY, a group of Civil War Vets, my Great-Grandfather, William OSBORNE, and his brother was in this picture.
2. William OSBORN[E], signed up in Floyd Co. 28 Oct. 1861 Company "F" Would you be able to find this. I would like to have a copy, to join the Daughters of the Confederate, I need material.
3. Jacob and Nancy ONEY WIREMAN m. in Floyd Co. 23 Ap 1820. I would like a copy of it from the Courthouse.
4. John Stephen and Maranda WIREMAN OSBORNE {see previous query}, m. Jan 1840 in Floyd. I would like to have their record, from the Courthouse.
. . . .I thank you and let me know of cost and I understand if you can't help, let me know who can, cost has to be low.
