GALLERY VIII - 1937 FLOOD

The following mini-gallery consists of photographs taken in Prestonsburg during "The Great Flood" of 1937. During January 1937 the State of Kentucky received an extreme amount of rainfall that remains unmatched. The average rainfall across the State equaled 15.77 inches. Pikeville recorded 18 days of measureable rainfall. Photographs courtesy of Kay Anne Frazier Wilborn.
