Create a Meat Loaf
Ingredients:
1 beaten egg 3/4 cup soft bread crumbs 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup finely chopped celery 1-2oz. can mushrooms, drained and chopped (optional) 2 tbsp. snipped parsley (optional) 1/2 tsp. dried basil, thyme, sage, oregano, or dill weed 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese 1 lb. ground beef or lamb 2 tbsp. BBQ sauce, chile sauce or ketchup |
In a mixing bowl combine egg, bread crumbs, milk, onion, celery, parsley,
any herb, salt and pepper. Add meat and mix well.
In a shallow baking dish pat meat mix into a 7x3x2 inch loaf. Or, shape into a circle with a 6 inch diameter. Form a 2 inch hole in the center of the circle. Bake at 350 for 45-50 min. for the loaf, or 25-30 min. for the circle, or till no pink remains. Transfer to a serving plate. Spoon BBQ, chili sauce or ketchup over meat. Ham Loaf: Prepare as above except use substitute dry mustard for the herb and omit salt. Reduce beef or lamb to 1/2 lb. and add 1/2 lb. ground ham. Bake 50 min. or till juices run clear. |
