TRACING MY FAMILY ROOTS
Our family history is as diverse as life itself. Some of our ancestors were the descendants of those who first set foot on the North American Continent. These brave souls ventured forth in search of new lands and the resources to provide for their famlies.
Others came by way of the great ships in search of a country where they could live their lives free of persecution, and where their children could live and raise their families without fear of the same persecutions that caused their parents to go off in search of freedom.
They were well aware of the hardships that lay before them, the dangers around every bend. Still they forged onward, intent on realizing their dreams.
It is because of those brave souls who looked past their fears, and endured the hardships of life on the seas, intent on realizing their dreams, that we are able to enjoy life in this great land today.
It is to these pioneers, those brave men and women who through turmoil, tears and blood, who never gave up on their dreams for a better life, that I and millions of others owe our deepest gratitude.
And so it is with our ancestors. They came from countries all over the world, to the shores of this great land. They settled along the Eastcoast, then moved westward over time.
Most of them were just like you and I, hard working, God fearing men and women who loved their families and lived their faith. I am sure we had a few skeletons in our closet, I don't know any family who doesn't. This just makes life more colorful and intriguing, adding to the mysteries surrounding their lives.
Because of this, it is my intent to learn as much as possible about our ancestors and try to connect with as many of their descendants as possible

I am delighted to have found many
relatives through my search I never knew about.
This really has become a labor of love.
A little genealogical humor.
I hope this does not happen to you.
Many, many years ago
When I was twenty-three,
I got married to a widow
Who was pretty as could be.
This widow had a daughter
Who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her,
And soon the two were wed.
This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life.
My daughter was my mother,
For she was my father's wife.
To complicate the matters worse,
Although it brought me joy,
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy.
My little baby then became
A brother-in-law to dad.
And so became my uncle,
Though it made me very sad.
For if he was my uncle,
Then that also made him brother
To the widow's grown-up daughter
Who, of course was my stepmother.
> Father's wife then had a son,
Who kept them on the run.
And he became my grandson,
For he was my daughter's son.
My wife is now my mother's mom.
And it surely makes me blue .
Because, although she is my wife,
She is my grandma too.
If my wife is my grandmother,
Then I am her grandchild.
And every time I think of it,
It simply drives me wild.
For now I have become
The strangest case you ever saw.
As the husband of my grandmother,
I am my own grandpa!
