Yes, I am a country girl, although I am not presently living on a farm, I am living in a small community and close to the rural area and still a country girl at heart. There is nothing like getting up in the morning to the sound of the birds singing, the sight of the flowers and foliage being kissed by the morning dew and the breaking of the sun over the horizon. You can smell the aroma of bacon cooking and coffee brewing, being carried gently aloft on the cool crisp morning breeze. In the Ozarks, you can see smoke curling up from the dense forest down below, a forest so thick there are no visible roads.
Then you look out over the meadow and see deer grazing along with the cattle and horses, the trees catching the first rays of light from the Autumn sun, all aglow in it's rich golden hues. What a life, I wouldn't trade it for all the gold in the world. I count my blessings everyday.
At night you can hear the birds singing their little ones to sleep with a lullaby that only Mother Nature knows, the coyotes calling to the moon and their pups yipping back, practicing to be like mom and pop when they grow up.

Lamar, Missouri, my hometown and the birthplace of President Harry S. Truman, is located about one mile just East of the intersection of U.S. Highways 160 and 71. It is a small farming community with a population close to 5000. I am thankful for my country roots, I cannot imagine never knowing the joy of walking by a bubbling stream, watching the little fish jumping and swimming around, or the frogs juming and croaking, the birds singing natures melody, the deer grazing in the meadow, and if you are real quiet you might even find a little fawn waiting for it's mother to return. Then there are the beautiful dogwood and redbud trees in full bloom in the spring. Why, when the air is heavy laden with the sweet fragrance of nature's perfume, I don't even mind old Mr. and Mrs. Skunk, that is as long as they don't mind me!!!
Of course I think there will always be bunny rabbits galore.
I just love baby and they are so adorable when they are babies but grow up all too soon. The lambs can grow up to become rams which sometimes don't take too kindly to anyone getting in their areas.
Yes, I have been told that I'm as stubborn as an old Missouri Mule
Nothing wrong with being stubborn as long as you don't carry it to a fault and get yourself kicked by the mule.
