“The Better Late Than Never” Amos Family Newsletter for 2006
Well 2006 has come and
gone! Where did it go? January started out with Stephen’s (19)
departure for college. He is now
finishing his second semester and he loves it.
He is attending Landmark Baptist College (www.landmarkbaptistcollege.org)
in Haines City, Florida. It is a small
college run by Landmark Baptist Church.
Their website is www.landmarkbaptistchurch.org. As part of their outreach ministry, the
church runs a small AM/FM radio station, Gospel 90.3 FM. You can hear the station on the Internet at www.gospel903.com. Stephen is working there part-time. He does production work and is now “on the
air” doing commercials and the weather.
His radio training here at WWXC sure came in handy. He also works on a bus route at the church.
Lauren is now 16
and a junior in high school. It is hard
to believe she will be a senior next year.
She still hates math, but I guess that is ok! She believes the Lord has called her into full time Christian
Service, but she is unsure as to what area.
She is still cooking, gardening, quilting, sewing, and crocheting. She also helps can jellies and jams. The big highlight of the year for her and
Stephen was a Missions trip to Puerto Rico for 10 days in July. They went to help Missionary Steve Buchanon
and his church run Vacation Bible School and do some work on the church. They did get to do some sightseeing and were
able to work on their Spanish.
Daniel is 14 and still doesn’t know what he wants to do. He is going to be handy with tools and
working outside. He loves putting things
together, taking them apart, and figuring out how they work. I wish he was that interested in his
schoolwork!
Mary is 9 and doing very well in school. She works hard and is reading much
better. She likes to draw and has quite
a folder of all the pictures she has drawn.
So many of you have asked about Jonathon and his progress with
Autism. I will enclose a separate
letter about him.
Abigail is 3 and is one busy little girl. She keeps track of all her brothers and
sisters and we keep track of her! She wants to do school, help with jobs and takes care of her
babies too. I wish I had half her
energy.
Mike received a promotion at work this year. He is now a project coordinator. He is also working at the radio station part time and is doing a one-hour Gospel Bluegrass show on Friday mornings. He still plays the banjo for Made From Scratch and the Hardin Brothers.
I am still the teacher at home. Along with home schooling, we keep busy at home and with church activities. Our church is growing and we are excited to see God’s work being done in our area. In June the kids and I went to Texas to visit my family while Mike went to Okinawa and Hawaii for a month. We drove back through New Orleans and Mississippi. It was still pretty messy! I can’t even begin to describe what the area looks like. We have a lot to be thankful for here. We are thankful for another year to serve the Lord and we are truly thankful God’s Son who was born in Bethlehem is now our Savior. We pray you know him as your Savior also. We trust that you will have a great 2007 as we continue to serve Him and look forward to His glorious return.
In His Service,
