Last summer we learned more than we cared to about wasps. These bald faced hornets decided that our camelia bush was the perfect place to set up camp. We didn't want to kill them but we also didn't really want them as our neighbors. What if one of the neighborhood kids got stung? Or our kitties? Total moral dilemma we had going. Then a little skunk saved us from making a decision. Late one night Kayleigh called me to the door. "Check it out Mom." There was a juvenile skunk in our front yard going nuts on this thing. We were worried he would get stung. But we looked it up on the internet and discovered that it is quite common for skunks to tear apart wasps nests to get at the larvae. Which they think is a yummy treat. Once all the wasps were gone I noticed how pretty and complex the little broken bits of nest were. I have been saving them all this time and finally found a use for them.
