Kenneth Copeland

KENNETH COPELAND HAS GAINED quite a following over the last few decades. Tens of thousands of men and women have sat under his ministry. He has gained in popularity to the point that he will likely carry the torch for the Word/Faith movement into the 21st century. Copeland got his start in ministry as a direct result of memorizing his mentor Hagin's messages. In 1968 his home Bible studies were transformed into mass revival meetings. In 1973 Copeland began publishing a newsletter called the Believer's Voice of Victory, three years later he began his "Believer's Voice of Victory" radio program. Copeland claims God "spoke" to him on March 23, 1979, giving him a "broadcasting...commission" to expand into television." He has expanded into distant locations such as England, the Philippines, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and Hong Kong. Copeland has indeed become an international ministry.

BUT!! Does all this success mean that he is God's man? Does the simple fact that he says "Jesus is Lord"! mean that he holds to basic Christian truths that have been held by Bible believing Christians for the last two thousand years? NO, it does not. Remember, Jesus said "Not everyone who says "Lord, Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven". You will be surprized to learn that Copeland DENIES the fact that Jesus' blood cleanses us from sin. You will be surprized to learn that he believes that if Jesus' physical death could have saved us, then Moses could have died for our sins. Hmmmm, doesnt sound like historical Christian teaching to me. I urge you to be as the Bereans were, they "searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." So, put what Copeland says to the test of scripture. Check out the quotes on the next page and then search the scriptures to see if its there. And when you do please remember two verses:

Galatians 1:8 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

2 Corinthians 11:4 "For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."
