Rev 19:6-13........ "And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God." (KJV)
I think that we have a very interesting series of thoughts here. They seem to contradict the position held by many, that the "marriage supper of the Lamb" happens during the Tribulation period. There are three phrases here that seem to indicate that the "supper" takes place after the coming of Christ to destroy his enemies and to set up his kingdom. In reading the book of Revelation, by the time you come to chapter 19 the Tribulation is at a close. The only thing left is for Jesus to return and destroy the antichrist and set up his kingdom. Lets look at the phrases:
1. "For the marriage of the Lamb is come": Notice that it is now time for the marriage supper. John is building with anticipation here. You can sense his excitement. The time has come for the marriage! The wife is ready! and then BOOM!! The Bridegroom enters the picture in vs. 11.
2. "wife hath made herself ready": How is the wife ready? she is now complete! You can't have a marriage supper celebration until the bride is complete. The bride consists of all those who have placed their faith and trust in Jesus. Not just those who were saved before the Tribulation. So we find that it is now, at the brink of the coming of Christ at the end of the Tribulation, that the bride is ready and the marriage supper is about to commence.
3. "Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb": Notice the sequence of events here. First the announcement is made that the time of the marriage supper has come. Then we're told the Bride is ready. Now the invitations (being called) are sent out!!
Conclusion: For me, this is one of the most convincing passages that proves the marriage supper of the Lamb takes place sometime after the Second Coming of Christ after the Tribulation. Remember also, this is the only place where it is called by name. To use any other scripture to apply to the marriage supper is to make conjecture. Not necessarily wrong, but conjecture nonetheless.
