JONATHAN HOLLOWELL N 1/2 of Sec, 5, T5. R. 2 West Conveyed by HENRY LOVE & SALLY LOVE his Wife Rec'd Sept. 2d & Recorded September 27th 1836. This Indenture made the 14th day of July 1836 Between HENRY LOVE and SALLY LOVE his wife both of the County of Marshall and State of Mississippi of the first part and JONATHAN HOLLOWELL of said County and State of the Second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand and six hundred Dollars in hand paid by the party of the Second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the parties of the first part have bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents do bargain sell and convey unto the party of the Second part a certain tract or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the County of Marshall and State of Mississippi aforesaid item the North half of Section No. 5 of Township No. 5 of Range No 2 West of the basis meridian containing three hundred and twenty acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the said land and bargained premises to the said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said parties of the first part covenant to and with the said party of the second part that the before recited land and bargained premises they once warrant and forever defend against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and date first above written. HENRY LOVE, SALLY (X) LOVE. Test. W. C. RANDOLPH, Esquire a Justice of the Peace of Said County the within named HENRY LOVE who acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the within Deed to JONATHAN HOLLOWELL on the day and year therein mentioned as his act and Deed. Also appeared SALLY LOVE wife of the said HENRY LOVE who being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she signed sealed and delivered the within Deed as her voluntary act and Deed freely without any fear threats or compulsion of her said husband. This indenture made the 26th day of August 1836 Between JONATHAN HOLLOWELL of the County of Marshall and State of Mississippi of the first part and WILLIE HOLLOWELL of Said County and State of the Second Part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand Dollars in hand paid by the party of the Second part the receipt of which hereby acknowledged the parties of the first part have bargained Sold and conveyed and by these presents do bargain sell and convey unto the party of the Second part a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Marshall and State of Mississippi aforesaid to with North east quarter Section No. 5 of Township No. 5 of Range No. 2 West of the based Meridian Containing one hundred and sixty acres be the same More or less To have and to hold the said land and bargained prised to the Said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first part covenants to and with the Said party of the Second part that the before recited Land and bargained permitted & will we warrant and forever defend again the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever In testimony where the said party of the first part had hereby set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date first above written. BOURLAND Clerk of the Probate Court of Said County JONATHAN HOLLOWELL whose name is subscribed to the within Deed acknowledged that he signed sealed & allowed the same as his act & deed on the day and year wherein named Given under my hand and unto seal having no seal of Said Court of Holly Springs the 15th day of October 1836. WILLIE HOLLOWELL slave Lawrence conveyed to C. HARBERT by W. J. SIMONS and by said HARBERT transferred to said HOLLOWELL: Received of CROCKET HARBERT Four Hundred and T__ty Six dollars as full compensation for the purchase of a certain negro boy named Lawrence aged ten years, the right, title and interest of said negro boy Lawrence I do hereby warrant and defend unto the said CROCKET HARBERT his heirs and assignees for the claim or claims of all and any person or persons whatsoever. I do further warrant the said negro boy Lawrence to be sound and healthy both of body and mind and to be a slave for life. Given under my hand and seal the 16th day of November 1840. W. J. SIMONS (seal). Tests: S.? CUMMINGS, JOHN W. HAMILTON. For value received I transfer all the right title and interest in me vested by this instrument to negro boy Lawrence for the consideration of five hundred dollars to me paid by said WILLIE HOLLOWELL to whom this transfer is made. I incur no liability whatsoever as regards the title to said boy. Holly Springs, November 16, 1840. CROCKET HERBERT. The State of Mississippi, Marshall County. Personally appeared before me WILLIAM RAGAN acting Justice of the Peace in and for said county, G?. CUMMINGS, As one of the Subscribing witnesses to the above bill of sale who being first duly sworn deposeth and saith that he saw the above W. J. SIMONS, whose name is subscribed, sign, seal, and deliver the same to the above named CROCKET HARBERT, that he the deponent subscribed his name as a witness thereto in the presence of the said W. J. SIMONS and in the presence of each other on the day and year therein named. Also personally appeared before me WILLIAM RAGAN an acting Justice of the Peace of said County. CROCKET HARBERT who acknowledged that he signed, sealed and delivered to WILLIE HOLLOWELL, the transfer as appears on the back of said bill of Sale, as his act and deed, on the dy and year thereon named. WILLIE D. S. HOLLOWELL 4 slaves conveyed by W. J. SIMONS. Received of WILLIE D. S. HOLLOWELL, the sum of fifteen hundred dollars it being a fair consideration for four negroes, namely Sam about the age of sixty years, Fanny aged thirty-eight, Bedy aged five years, Sarah Malisa aged four years. I WESTON J. SIMONS do bind myself, my heirs and assignees forever to warrant and forever defend the title of the above named negroes to WILLIE D. S. HOLLOWELL his heirs or assignees forever, day and date above mentioned. W. J. SIMONS (seal). Test: BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL, SILAS HOLLOWELL. The State of Mississippi, Marshall County: Personally appeared before me WILLIAM RAGAN an acting Justice of the Peace in and for said County, BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL, one of the subscribing witnesses to the above bill of sale who being first duly sworn deposeth and saith that he saw the above named W. J. SIMONS whose name is subscribed thereunto, sign seal and deliver the same to the above named WILIE D. S. HOLLOWELL, that he this deponent subscribed his name as a witness thereto in the presence of the said W. J. SIMONS and that he saw the other subscribing witness SILAS HOLLOWELL sign the same in the presence of W. J. SIMONS and in the presence of each other on the day and year therein named. THOMAS MUSGRAVE, NE 1/4 S5 T5 R2 West conveyed by WILIE D. S. HOLLOWELL & wife. This Indenture made and entered into on the 12th day March 1842 Between WILIE D. S. HOLLOWELL and his wife MARY HOLLOWELL of the State of Tennessee and County of Fayette of the first part and THOMAS MUSGRAVE of the State of Mississippi and County of Marshall of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand and six hundred Dollars paid by the party of second part the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged by the party of the first part, have bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain sell and convey unto the party of the second part a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Marshall and State of Mississippi to wit The North East quarter of section number five of Township number Five of range number two West of the base meridian of the Chickasaw cession in the state of Mississippi containing one hundred sixty acres To have and to hold the said Lands and bargained premisis to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first part covenant to and with the said party of the second part the above named Land and bargained premises they will warrant and forever defend against the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. HOLLOWELL whose name is signed to the written deed and acknowledged that he Signed Sealed and delivered the Same on the day and year therein named as his act and Deed. Also appeared before me the above named Justice of the peace MARY HOLLOWELL wife of Said WILIE D. S. HOLLOWELL who on a private examination separate and apart from her husband acknowledged that the signed sealed and delivered the within Deed on the day and year therein mentioned as her voluntary act and deed freely without any fear threats or compulsion of her husband. This indenture made and entered into this the twenty ninth of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. Between R. T. HALL and his SARAH A. HALL of the County of Marshall and State of Mississippi of the first part. And CALVIN HOLOWELL of the county and state afore said of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to us the said R. T. HALL his wife SARAH A. HALL in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath this day bargained and sold unto the said CALVIN HOLOWELL and by these presents do bargain sell alien and convey unto the said CALVIN HOLOWELL The following described land and bargained premises lying and being in the county of Marshall and state of Mississippi (to wit) One hundred acres by estimation off of the west ____ of the south west Quarter of Section thirty three Township five Range two west of the bases meridian commencing on the South west Corner Thence running east on the section line to a branch thence commencing with the branch and running North West directions untill it strikes the marked line that binds the hundred acres on the west end of the said Quarter. Thence running with the line to branch thence running with the run of the branch North west direction up to the Northern boundary of the said Quarter estimated one hundred acres to have and hold the same land with all appurtenances to said CALVIN HOLOWELL his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple the said R. T. HALL and his wife SARAH A. HALL covenants with the said CALVIN HOLLOWELL that he is lawfully siquest of said land has good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered. We further covenant to warrant and forever defend the title to said land and every part thereof to the said CALVIN HOLOWELL his heirs and assigns Against the lawful claim and claims of any and all person and persons whatsoever. Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of REUBIN T. HALL and Seal. SARAH A. HALL and seal. The State of Mississippi, Marshall County. ersonally appeared before the undersigned an acting justice of the peace and Ex-Officeo Notary public of said County R. T. HALL the granter of the within deed of conveyance. Who acknowledged that he signed sealed & delivered the within deed for the purposes therein expressed the day and year therein written. Also SARAH A. HALL wife of the above named R. T. HALL being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that without fear threat or compulsion of her said husband she willingly signed & sealed the within deed the day & year therein written for the purposes therein expressed as Witness my hand and Seal this 29th of August 1858. I John Trousdale Clerk of the Probate Court of said county certify that this deed was received for record in my office on the 11th day of September 1856 and that the same together with the certificate thereto was this day recorded in Deed Book V on page 285.
