Hi I'm Scott Rivers.
I having been collecting public safety patches and memorabilia for the past six years. My interest in public safety began when I became an explorer scout with the San Mateo County Fire/CDF Explorer Post #955. Since that time, I have earned my Ca. State Fire Fighter 1, EMT-1, Haz-mat First Responder Operational, Rescue Systems 1, and Fire Investigations 1A and 1B certificates, as well as my Associate of Science Degree in Fire Technology. I guess you can say that I really enjoyed being an explorer and I was hooked from the start. Next I joined the fledgling Dry Creek Volunteer Fire Company, in Sonoma County, CA. (which I recently resigned from due to moving) My most enjoyable fire fighting experience was as a Fire Fighter 1 for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in the Sonoma-Lake-Napa Ranger Unit. As a seasonal fire fighter, I battled wildland fires through-out the state. Though it was a great experience, the pay was less than desirable. That led me to my current position in public safety. I began working with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department as a civilian employee and I am currently working as a sworn correctional officer. I have been with the sheriff's department since December of 1998 and I enjoy working in the Corrections area of Law Enforcement, despite the obvious fact that I am surrounded by criminals for a living. I have recently been promoted to the Mental Health Team for Sonoma County Jail and hope to get involved with the Administrative Segregation Unit as well. I am currently keeping my future plans open to either continuing in Law Enforcement or returning to the Fire Service. No matter what I choose, I am certain to remain in Public Safety. The men and women of Law Enforcement and the Fire Service are the best I've ever met. I wouldn't trade the teamwork, dedication, and loyalty for anything.
I created this page as a way to meet other patch collector's who are online. This site will be updated on a continual basis, so please visit it often. 1. Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement patches with cartoon images on them (both known characters and generic ones)
2. Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement patches with "Scott" in their name (ie. Scottsdale, Scotts Valley, Prescott)
3. Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement patches with "Rivers" in their name (ie. Riverside, Three Rivers, Twin Rivers)
4. Patches or badges from Disneyland/World Fire or Security
5. Law Enforcement Patches that commemorate the 150th Anniversary of California Police or Sheriff's Departments.
