I believe reading to your
children is one of the most important things a parent can do.
Reading not only develops a feel for language, and assists in
language development, it also helps spark the imagination. An
imaginitive child is a child forever thrilled with her world!
Here are some great
reasons to read to kids:
* increases vocabulary
* fires imagination
* expands a child's
view of the world
* assists in forming
intimate bond with children
* helps develop
a lifelong love of books and learning
* can increase a
child's knowledge in special areas of interest (animals, sports,
hobbies, etc.)
Babyhood is a fine time
to start reading to your child! You needn't buy reams of expensive
books - libraries are the most inexpensive way to get an endless
supply! Since we are bookworms in my family, we have searched
out a variety of inexpensive sources such as:
The library
Buying them at garage
sales and thrift shops
Making our own stories
and pictures
Printing out stories
from the Internet
And of course, buying
them!
