Welcome

      Shivers' Page

Shivers has an interesting story about how she came to live with me. On January 1, 1999, a friend of mine knocked on my door and had this little ferret in her hands. This friend told me that she found the ferret outside. The weather was terrible that day. In fact, Cleveland was experiencing the worst blizzard that the city had seen in 25 years and this ferret was outside in it.

I don't know how she got outside, but I am assuming that since neither the ferret's previous owners were able to find her and my efforts to find the previous owners had failed, that she was thrown outside because nobody wanted her anymore. Shivers had a little bit of frostbite on her tail and she was exhausted and scared, but other than that, she seemed fine.

For a couple days she did nothing but shiver. First it was because she was cold, then it was because she was scared of her new surroundings. I did not name her for about a week -- I was afraid that I would become too attached to her and have to give her back if I got in touch with her owners -- so after a week, I chose to name her Shivers, and I think that name was appropriate.
