News Article: Dead at the Scene: Christ. Jenz fell under the wheels of a streetcar. Skull was broken. Christ Jenz, driver of a trash wagon at Ward 16 and living at 1396 Second St. was killed this morning at 6:15 AM at 27th St. near Grand Avenue by a streetcar traveling south. Jenz was walking behind his wagon which was traveling north. As he came close to the home of Mr. Truman Curtis the horse tried to get out of the streetcar tracks because it saw a streetcar coming. Jenz wanted to see what caused his horse to swerve. He stepped aside but did not see that a streetcar, traveling south, sped toward him. Within an instant he was hit and thrown to the side. His head hit the ground so hard that his skull was shattered. Someone picked up the unlucky victim and took him to the station at 27th and Chestnut St. But he had taken his last breath on the way there. The coroner had the body taken to the home and took care of the necessary formalities. (Translated from the German)
