Mesa Verde, CO

During the spring of 98 I took a vacation to the Southwest.  Of course, being a dog person, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go to a dog show.  You don't think I planned this vacation around a dog show in the area, do you?  Well, what self respecting dog person wouldn't?  The longest part of the trip was getting there and coming back.    Since I was travelling with 3 dogs, it wasn't very practical to fly.  My plan to show the first few days and then vacation, didn't work out too well.  The shows were in Durango, CO about an hour from Mesa Verde.  The next time I will plan to arrive several days before showing.  Luge did not do too well the first 2 days in obedience.  And I can't really blame him after riding in the car for 3 days 12+ hours at a time.  He did qualify on the third day so I guess he was just starting to settle in. It was a very nice show and we had beautiful weather.  The day after the shows we drove to Mesa Verde and camped there for several days.  I didn't get the chance to go down to Cliff Palace because it was so hot and sunny.  I did have a chance to walk around many of the ruins which were on top of the mesas.  One of the pictures shows Cliff Palace.   The little speck of colors at the ruin is a crowd of 30 some tourists.
