~Butterfly~

A Story of Life..

Once upon a time in a land far away.
There was a wonderful old man who loved everything.
Animals, Insects, Nature, Life..

One day while walking through the woods the
old man found a cocoon.

He lived alone and being lonely, he decided to take the cocoon home
to watch its beautiful transformation from
a funny little cocoon to a beautiful butterfly.

He gently placed the cocoon on a table,
and watched over it for days.
The excitement was wonderful
awaiting new life..

Suddenly on the seventh day the cocoon started to move.
It moved frantically!
The old man felt sorry
for the little butterfly inside the cocoon.
As he watched it struggling, so determined to escape.

Finally the old man felt so sorry for the
butterfly in it's cocoon, he rushed to its aide and
gently opened the cocoon
so the butterfly could emerge.

Soon the butterfly broke free
from its cocoon only to wilt over in a
complete motionless state.

The old man did not know what to think.
Had he accidentally killed the little butterfly?
No, it was still moving a little bit.
Maybe it is sick, he thought.

How could he know?
He was worried, and quite perplexed.
What should I do, he thought?
Well, he felt so sorry for that little creature
finally he decided the best thing he could
do for the baby butterfly
was to place it gently back into its cocoon.

He did so, and placed a drop of honey
on the torn area to seal it once again,
leaving the butterfly to nestle
in its natural state.

Well, the next day he noticed that the
cocoon was moving again.
This is wonderful, he thought.
Inside the cocoon the pushing and moving continued.
The new life struggled for sometime.
Finally the butterfly broke free
from its cocoon and
stretched its wings far and wide.
Its beautiful wings were filled with wonderful colors!

It looked around then took off!
It was flying!
Its so beautiful!
The old man was jumping with joy!
He was so thankful for new life..

Go tiny one, Go!
And that wonderful butterfly did just that,
it flew until it was almost
out of sight.
What a joy, he exclaimed!
But then he began to think.
What did I do wrong by trying to help
that beautiful little butterfly?

The old man decided to go into town.
He found the library, and
read every book he could on
butterflies and cocoons.

Finally he found the answer.
The butterfly has to struggle and struggle
while inside the cocoon.
That's how it gets its strength to escape.
This is part of the natural process.
To become strong, they have to over come the
entraptment of the cocoon.

Returning home, the old man was in awe to what he had read,
saddened, however; somewhat relieved.

Now he knew the reason why they have to struggle.
It was only his perception that made
it appear that the butterfly was
having a hard time finding release.

Well, from then on the old man knew that loving
something sometimes means
you have to set it free.

He realized that God ways are wonderful, and
that sometimes appearances aren't what
they seem to be.
We all are beautiful butterflies,
even though we have our apparent struggles in life...

She Whispered...

"God are you real?"
The little girl whispered,
"God, speak to me!"
And a meadowlark sang.
But the child did not hear.
So the child yelled,
"God, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky.
But the child did not listen.
The child looked around and said,
"God let me see you!"
And a star shone brightly.

But the child did not notice.
And the child shouted,
"God show me a miracle!"
And a life was born.
But the child did not know.
So the child cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are here!"
Whereupon God reached down and touched the child.
But the child brushed the butterfly away
and walked away unknowingly.
