Angels are everywhere. Angels are among us.
God sends Angels to us to lead us through the heart of darkness into the light.
Through God's Angels,
we are able to see and understand what we cannot alone.
The word angel comes from the Greek word for messenger;
angels are messengers from God.
They seem to speak every human language fluently,
and with the exception of the Angel of Death, they always bring good news.
Often, too, an angel will save someone from disaster.
Their faces were living flame, their wings were gold, and for the rest,
their white was so intense, no snow can match the white they showed....
From rank to rank, they shared that peace and ardor
which they gained with wings that fanned their sides.
Angels are intelligent reflections of light,
that original light which has no beginning.
They can illuminate.
They do not need tongues or ears,
for they can communicate without speech, in thought...
They are limited in their powers:
when in Heaven they cannot be on earth at the same time,
and when God sends them to earth,
they cannot remain in Heaven at the same time.
Yet they are not captive to walls and doors;
in this respect they are unlimited.
When God sends them to appear to good men,
they do not reveal themselves in their true shape,
but in a changed semblance that men can see...
As disembodied mind, they live in a mental climate
and are not limited as bodies are.
They do not need the three dimensions.
Wherever they are sent,
they are there as mind and there can take on power,
but they cannot do this in more than one place at a time.
numbering thousands upon thousands,
and ten thousand times ten thousand.
They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.
In a loud voice they sang:
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!"
who help carry out His work on earth.
They bring messages (Luke 1:26-28),
protect God's people (Daniel 6:22),
offer encouragement (Genesis 16:7ff),
give guidance (Exodus 14:9),
bring punishment (2 Samuel 24:16),
patrol the earth (Ezekiel 1: 9-14),
and fight the forces of evil
(2 Kings 6:16-18; Revelation 20:1).
There are both good and evil angels (12:7),
but because evil angels are allied with satan,
they have considerablly less power and authority than good angels.
Eventually, the main role of the good angels will be
to offer continuous praise to God (19:1-3).
and to bring you to the place I have prepared."
Her white-fringed robes are
a deeper blue than yesterday
and they swirl in
tidal profundity
while over her head
winged trumpets
announce she
is among us.
